For a
number of years we have had links with a church in Szczecin in Poland;
we have sent a number of teams over and been involved in some of their
projects. The pastor and other Polish Christians have also
visited us in England. The church has recently set up a website:
The Bethel
Evangelical
Church in Szczecin website
is
almost entirely in Polish. But
we do recognise a lot of the faces from the picture
gallery even
if we do not understand the words.

As a church we support Les Norman's work around the world through the DCI Trust. There is too much going on to explain in a few words here so click the link and scroll down the main page. |

We support a number of different projects both locally and in other
parts of the world. When we met at Abbey on 6 February 2005 a
number of larger organisations were mentioned by Mike Fegredo and Karen
Paterson and here are more details:
|
|
The Trade
Justice movement campaigns for change to the unjust rules
and institutions governing international trade, so that trade is made
to work for all. | |
|
The Micah Challenge is a
global Christian campaign that: challenges us to deepen our engagement
with the poor; and challenges leaders to achieve the Millennium
Development Goals, and so halve absolute global poverty by 2015!
|
The Jubilee Debt
Campaign is
demanding an end to the scandal of poor
countries paying money to the rich world. It is calling for 100%
cancellation of unpayable poor country debts.
|
Relieving suffering
and offering hope is at the
heart of Tearfund’s vision. It is also involved
in
relief and development,
and tackling the underlying causes of poverty.
|
MAKE POVERTY HISTORY was set up to bring together action during
2005. The website is still there, but points you to other sites
for ongoing action. |
